AnyAiCam for Linux

Install AnyAiCam on your own Ubuntu 24.04 PC.

AnyAiCam runs on a PC with Ubuntu 24.04 LTS (64-bit Intel or AMD). Prefer a ready-made system? An AnyAiCam Ryzen appliance arrives with AnyAiCam installed and a licence included.

Before you start

Computer

  • Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, 64-bit (a fresh install is recommended)
  • 64-bit Intel or AMD processor with 4 or more cores
  • 8 GB RAM or more; 16 GB recommended
  • 100 GB free storage, plus storage for recordings

Network

  • Wired connection on the same network as your cameras
  • Internet access during installation
  • Ports TCP 8000 and UDP 8189 free on this PC

Account

  • An AnyAiCam account with a VMS licence
  • A licence comes with every AnyAiCam appliance, or for your own PC, buy a one-time licence with your camera plan in Build Your System, from $24.99 for 8 cameras (see plans)
  • A monthly camera plan. Your licence and plan set how many cameras run, and AnyAiCam 1.2.7 enforces that on this PC
  • An Ubuntu user that can run sudo

Install

The AnyAiCam for Linux download is coming soon. The steps below show how installation will work once it is available.

Docker may be required for the AnyAiCam Linux VMS installation. If your PC does not have Docker Engine yet, follow Docker's official instructions for your supported operating system (Ubuntu 24.04 LTS). Install Docker Engine — Official Docker Instructions

  1. Download the installer (coming soon). The download will be free. Linking this PC needs only your AnyAiCam account; your cameras run once you have a monthly camera plan and a VMS licence.
  2. Check the download is complete. In a terminal, in the folder you saved it to, run the first command below and compare the result with the SHA-256 published next to the download.
  3. Unpack it into a new folder, run the installer, then run the built-in check. If your plan is Hybrid, use --product-mode=hybrid (once linked, AnyAiCam follows your plan). If the folder already exists, choose a new folder name.
sha256sum anyaicam-appliance-installer-<version>.tar.gz
mkdir ~/AnyAiCam
tar -xzf anyaicam-appliance-installer-<version>.tar.gz -C ~/AnyAiCam
cd ~/AnyAiCam-1.2.7
sudo ./install.sh --product-mode=local
sudo ./validate.sh
  1. Link this PC to your account. Open AnyAiCam Setup (it opens by itself when you sign in to the desktop, and is in the applications menu) and choose Link this appliance. Your browser opens AnyAiCam: sign in, or choose Create account (confirm your email, then sign in from the same browser tab). On Claim an appliance, choose the site and select Confirm claim within 15 minutes. If your appliance is no longer shown, choose Link this appliance on the PC again. There is no code to copy. When it says Your appliance is linked, select Discover cameras to find and add your cameras. Without a desktop, run sudo -u anyaicam /opt/anyaicam-agent/venv/bin/anyaicam-setup --claim, follow the prompts, and enter the 8-character claim code it shows on the Claim an appliance page. A PC that is already linked keeps its link: do not link it again.
  2. If you have not bought a plan yet, choose Activate Your System: one checkout for your monthly camera plan and the one-time VMS licence. After checkout your cameras start automatically within a few minutes.

After installation

Updates

New versions appear in Settings → System. The account owner starts each install. Every update is checked before it installs, and if a new version does not start correctly the PC goes back to the version it was running.

Upgrading

From 1.2.4, 1.2.5 or 1.2.6: download this release, unpack it into a new folder and run sudo ./install.sh (or the same command you used before; reinstalling cannot switch the product mode). Cameras, recordings, settings and the link to your account are kept, and a rollback point is saved first. An older installer will not replace a newer version.

Repair

Run sudo ./install.sh --repair from the installer folder. Recordings, cameras, settings and accounts are kept. To go back to the version you had before the last upgrade, run sudo anyaicam-rollback.

Help

If validate.sh reports a problem, send its output to AnyAiCam support, or call (346) 554-4699.
